“From this day all generations will call me blessed.” – Luke 1:48
There’s something special about the month of May—it arrives in full bloom, bursting with color, warmth, and renewal. It’s fitting, then, that the Church dedicates this radiant month to the woman who brought the Light of the World into it: the Blessed Virgin Mary.
For centuries, Catholics have honored May as Mary’s month, setting it apart for deeper devotion to our spiritual Mother. But beyond flowers, processions, and rosaries, May is a personal invitation to allow Mary to take you by the hand and draw you closer to her Son. It’s an invitation to rest beneath her mantle, to imitate her feminine strength, and to let her teach you how to love with a pure and trusting heart.
Why Mary?
Mary isn’t a distant figure in our faith—she’s the model of womanhood, the one who said “yes” with courage and trust when God asked the unthinkable. She is the first disciple, the quiet intercessor, and the ever-faithful Mother of the Church.
To love Mary is not to take attention away from Christ—it’s to follow her gaze toward Him. Every Marian devotion is rooted in the truth that no one loved Jesus more completely than His mother. By drawing closer to her, we learn how to draw closer to Him.
In a world that often devalues womanhood or distorts it, Mary stands as a living witness to the power, dignity, and beauty of a life surrendered to God. She shows us that feminine holiness isn’t passive—it’s strong, self-giving, and deeply fruitful.
A Prayerful Challenge for the Month of Mary

This May, I want to challenge you to intentionally walk with Mary—one prayerful step at a time. Whether you’re a cradle Catholic or a new convert, a mother or daughter, single or married—there’s something powerful about carving out space to let Mary mother you.
This isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Give Mary your time, your heart, your attention, and she will take it straight to her Son.
Mary, Model of Femininity
As Catholic women, Mary is our model not just of holiness, but of how to live as fully feminine and fully faithful. She shows us how to serve without losing our identity, how to speak truth with gentleness, and how to wait with hope even in suffering.
Her motherhood is not limited to the Holy Family—it extends to each one of us. She intercedes, she nurtures, she protects. We are never alone when we walk with Mary.
So, let this month be more than a tradition. Let it be a transformation.
Closing Prayer:

Mary, Mother of God, be my mother too. Teach me how to live and love like you. Walk with me this month, and form my heart to reflect yours. Amen.
